Lieutenant Zainab Suwu of the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces (RSLAF), who was freed from the Pademba Road Correctional Centre during the Sunday 26th November, 2023 failed coup in Freetown, has been apprehended in neighbouring Guinea during a joint operation by Guinean and Sierra Leonean security forces in the country.
It could be recalled that last Thursday, the Guinean and Sierra Leonean security forces successfully arrested five Sierra Leonean fugitives for their alleged roles in the November, 2023 failed coup that culminated in the killing of both RSLAF and Sierra Leone Police (SLP) personnel by the assailants.
According to confirmed report, Lt. Zainab Suwu was among the five arrested military officers in Guinea but she identified herself as Fatmata Koroma and said she was a musician.
Lt. Zainab Suwu, Major F.S. Kamara, Major P.A.O. Sesay, Major Juana Kabba and Mayor A.I. Bangura were standing trial for the 30th July, 2023 subversion of the State but were allegedly freed during the failed coup on November 26, 2023 by Amadu Koita and eleven others including soldiers currently standing the court martial.
Lt. Zainab Suwu is the niece of late Chief Benson Suwu of Kenema City, who served as Deputy Minister of Political and Public Affairs in the erstwhile Koroma Administration.
The Satellite has learnt that because of the strengthening of our diplomatic ties with neighbouring Guinea under the dynamic leadership of His Excellency President Dr. Julius Maada Bio, the joint operations of Guinean and Sierra Leonean security forces have intensified their search for Sierra Leonean fugitives hiding in that country.
