Leader of the main opposition All People’s Congress (APC), Dr. Samura Mathew Wilson Kamara, was conspicuously absent from last week’s critical meeting with His Excellency President Brig. (Rtd) Julius Maada Bio and the Co-Chairs of the Tripartite Committee.

The meeting was convened to address Resolution (3) of the Agreement for National Unity.

Reason(s) for Dr. Samura Kamara’s conspicuous absence from the meeting was unknown, whilst his party members that spoke to this medium claimed that their erstwhile presidential candidate was in his hometown - Kamalo - to attend the funeral of his younger twin sister, where he served as guest speaker at a ceremony hosted by the University of Makeni.

Despite the meeting was scheduled and confirmed by President Bio and all stakeholders of the Tripartite Committee, Dr. Samura Kamara prioritized the funeral of her younger sister over National Unity and his conspicuous absence from the meeting has been deemed by many observers as his reluctance to accept any agreement for National Unity other than a rerun of the June 2023 presidential election.
