A number of former government officials who served in the President Koroma led APC government have resolved to face the Commissions of Inquiry when summoned, despite their party’s defiant stance not to cooperate with the inquiry.

It could be recalled that the Secretary General of the main opposition party, Ambassador Osman Yansanneh has repeatedly stated that, the party will not subject its members to what they refer to as a “Kangaroo” court, because the Commissions were not properly constituted by law.

Their action was premised on the lack of Rule of Evidence which the party says ought to have been complied with in the setting up of the three Commissions of Inquiry.

Amongst those that have freely consented to appear before the Commissions of Inquiry when called upon, despite their party’s position are prominent lawyers that held very high positions in the past government.

This comes after Justice William Atuguba overruled the jurisdictional objection raised by defence counsel representing the former Works Minister, Kemoh Sesay and few others.

Satellite understands that, these notable lawyers have opted to fully cooperate with the Commissions because they are very much aware of the ramification of trial in absentia.

Meanwhile, Justice Biobele George-Will is also expected to rule of the same jurisdictional objection raised by lawyer Ady Macauley today.
Ady Macauley, the former Commissioner of the Anti-Corruption Commission in President Koroma government is representing former Defence Minister, (Rtd) Alfred Paolo Conteh also Chief Executive Officer, National Ebola Response Center.

So far, the hearings have dug out alarming figures of billions of Leones and millions of United States Dollars that were unaccounted for, plus loans in the region of over Le7Billion that were not repaid.

In the middle of this embarrassment were former President Koroma and his two Vice Presidents, Samuel Sam Sumana and Victor Bockarie Foh.
