The Chief Executive Officer of Leadway Trading Company, Babadi Kamara, has informed journalists that his company has deposited into the government account the sum of Thirteen Million, One Hundred and Ninety One Thousand Four Hundred and Fifty United States dollars ($13,191,450) as revenue generated from the exporting of 4,950 containers of timber.

Making the disclosure in a press briefing held on Friday 22 February 2019 at Leadway Head Office, Adelaide Street, Freetown, Babadi Kamara said,over One Million dollars have also been paid to government by his company towards afforestation since Leadway Trading Company was awarded the contract as sole agent for the export of timber in July 2018.

According to him, the said amount is the highest revenue paid to the Government of Sierra Leone by any agent; as under the past regime, only Ninety Six Billion Leone was accounted for ten thousand containers of timber exported.

While under the New Direction, One Hundred and Twelve Billion, One Hundred and Twenty Seven Million, Three Hundred and Twenty Five Thousand Leones has been paid for only 4,597 containers of timbers exported.
