The rigid Commissioner of the Anti-Corruption Commission, Francis Ben Kaifala, has told civil society representatives and the media at the Commission’s quarterly media update that, he has strongly warned the Minister of Lands, Dr Denis Sandy over numerous protests relating to land ownership.


The engagement with the Minister, he said took place at the Minister’s office.

The ACC boss disclosed that, he informed the Lands Minister that the country’s anti-graft body has received many complaints from the public about his ministry’s demolition exercise.

He noted that, people report that, their properties are been demolished even where they have legal documents showing ownership.

Mr. Kaifala said, although Dr Sandy denied any wrong-doing, he calls on the public not to hesitate to utilize the courts if they feel offended by Dr Sandy’s action.

On the part of the ACC, Mr. Kaifala said, they look forward to determined persons that will inform them about any illegal financial transaction with either Dr Sandy or any Lands ministry official.

The ACC Commissioner said, President Bio is determined to fight corruption and that no one is exempt. He noted that, the problem ACC has is that people talk a lot but when it comes to investigation and prosecution, they do not cooperate.

The ACC Commissioner also disclosed that, the allegation against the All Peoples Congress Secretary General, Dr Foday Yansanneh of receiving salary from the Consolidated Revenue Fund whilst serving as APC Secretary General has reached an advanced stage.

He stated that, since his appointment in 2018, the ACC has 40 cases pending in court and numerous others under investigation and has recovered Le12 billion.
Commissioner Kaifala said, he was proud to note that unlike other countries, Sierra Leone is among few, where CSOs and media show great cooperation in the anti corruption fight.

His deputy, Shola Davies, in his welcome address highlighted many issues of national interest that, the ACC has successfully investigated with its 104 strength work force.
