The leadership of the main opposition All Peoples Congress party has publicly announced at a meeting held at the party’s headquarters in Freetown that henceforth, the party will no longer take part in any elections conducted by the National Electoral Commission under its current Commissioner, Mohamed Nfa Alie Conteh.

The party’s action was necessitated following SLPP victory in the hotly contested bye- election in Tonko Limba Chiefdom- Ward 196, Kambia District, their unwavering traditional stronghold, which they claimed was marred by electoral malpractices. The proviso in the party’s press release states that, as long as Mohamed Nfa Alie Conteh remains as Chief Commissioner of the National Electoral Commission their verdict stands.

To prove that they mean what they have said, they will not take part in the forthcoming Ward election in Port Loko district. The decision was arrived at a meeting convened by the APC National Advisory Council.

The body said, APC has lost confidence and trust in the integrity and credibility of NEC under the leadership of Mohamed Nfa Conteh.
They therefore called on him to immediately resign his post and called on the international community and all democracy stakeholders to join their call for Nfa Alie to resign.

The press release to the effect is signed by the party’s Secretary General, Dr Osman Foday Yansanneh.
