The short-lived quarrel which broke out recently in the ruling Sierra Leone People’s party over its leadership in Parliament has been amicably resolved without any dissenting view.

The struggle between the party’s chairman and leader, Dr Prince Harding and the then leader of government business, Hon Sidi Mohamed Tunis, ensued when the former in a letter informed the Speaker of the House, that the party hierarchy has resolved to change their leadership in Parliament following his new appointment as Speaker of the ECOWAS Parliament

After a series of disagreements between the dual, though, Hon. Tunis finally agreed to relinquish his leadership position in Parliament, but however pleaded with the party leadership to continue serving within the leadership echelon of SLPP in Parliament.

Meanwhile, Hon. Mathew Nyuma will now take over as Leader of Government Business and deputized by Hon Bashiru Sidikie.

Hon Sidie Mohamed Tunis, while serving as Leader of Government Business in Parliament was elected Speaker of the ECOWAS Parliament on March 9th 2020, in Niamey, Niger following the inauguration of the Fifth Legislature of the ECOWAS Parliament by President Issoufou Mahamadou of Niger who doubles as Chairman of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of States and Governors
