A stalwart in the main opposition All People’s Congress (APC), Alhaji Ibrahim Kemoh Sesay, who served in two ministerial positions in the erstwhile Koroma Administration, has accused members of the National Advisory Committee (NAC) of the party of undermining their 2018 and 2023 presidential candidate, Dr. Samura Mathew Wilson Kamara.

Alhaji Ibrahim Kemoh Sesay, according to report, believes that members of NAC, the second highest body in the APC after the National Delegates Conference (NDC), do not want Dr. Samura M.W. Kamara in the party because of hatred at the expense of the people, while he cautioned them to desist from hating the two-time presidential candidate.

The erstwhile APC National Organizing Secretary also reportedly accused NAC members of deceiving Sierra Leoneans and warned that they refrained from eceptive acts.

The former Minister referred the APC Executive to Article 2(j) of the new APC Constitution which stipulates that the first responsibility of NAC is to ensure party members secure power by democratic means, noting that he has referred to the aforesaid article for NAC members to know their role as anything outside democratic process should be considered as anti-party activity.

Alhaji Kemoh Sesay was quoted as saying that following the 24th June, 2023 national elections, NAC members claimed that the party had won the elections during a NAC meeting at the party secretariat at Brookfields in Freetown, adding that the party also held another meeting in Port Loko where they agreed to boycott all government activities as a way of staying out of violence.

He claimed that he was the person that wrote the motion that was first moved by Hon. Abdul Kargbo and was later unanimously agreed upon by the meeting, a move he described as successful. Alhaji Kemoh Sesay furthered that when President Dr. Julius Maada Bio initiated a conversation with the APC Chairman and presidential candidate, he was at the meeting and relayed the conversation to NAC that culminated in request for a dialogue with government and the latter agreed, which resulted in the establishment of the Tripartite Committee.

The former Member of Parliament also said during the Tripartite Committee engagement, their party recommended a re-run of the June, 2023 national elections but he was later confused and dumbfounded when he heard from NAC that there was no need for a re-run of the elections.

He however praised Dr. Samura Kamara who he said did a great job by not stopping their party members and supporters to fully participate in the June 2023 national elections because it could have led to a one-party state if he had stopped them from exercising their franchise. Alhaji Kemoh Sesay also claimed that NAC accused Dr. Samura Kamara of meeting with President Bio without their knowledge, despite he explained to NAC members the outcome of their meeting that resulted to the establishment of the Tripartite Committee.

He further claimed that NAC requested Dr. Samura Kamara to lead a protest which he declined on the grounds that he would not want someone to lose their lives because of his political ambitions.

The stalwart said when he suggested a peaceful march to President Bio to request for a re-run during a NAC meeting, the request was frowned upon.
