The Judiciary of Sierra Leone Court of Appeal on Monday 17th February, 2025 issued a notice that the appeal of the erstwhile leader of Alliance Democratic Party (ADP), Mohamed Kamarainba Mansaray versus the State will come up for hearing on Thursday 20th February, 2025 at 10:00a.m.

The proceeding will be held at the Law Courts Building in Freetown. This notification has been served to both the State and the accused’s legal representatives, ensuring that all parties are informed and prepared for the upcoming hearing.

It could be recalled that in 2021, Mohamed Kamarainba Mansaray was accused of having sexual intercourse with a then 15-year-old schoolgirl, and he was facing several child sex abuse charges, including conspiracy, with co-defendant, Marion Aruni. He was convicted in Sierra Leone for having sexual relation with an underage girl. He was jailed for 32 years at the High Court of Sierra Leone. He has jumped bail and he is currently living in the United States of America.

Should Mohamed Kamarainba Mansaray fail to honour the Appeal Court’s order, the Government of Sierra Leone (GoSL) could formally ask the United States Government for his immediate extradition to Sierra Leone to face justice.

Recently, Mohamed Kamarainba Mansaray was one of those promoting the fake news that a convicted cocaine smuggler, Jos Leijdekkers, has been living in Sierra Leone for at least six months. His anger against the government and the President stems from the fact that he was incarcerated at the Pademba Road Correctional Centre for having sex with an underage girl. Kamarainba spent close to 5 years in prison before he was granted bail at the Court of Appeal on medical grounds.
