Orange Sierra Leone, in partnership with Mobihive, has launched the Tross Phone initiative, a device financing scheme that allows customers to acquire selected smartphones on credit and pay through monthly installments. The launch took place on 10 December 2025 at the Orange office in Rawdon Street, Freetown.
The scheme enables eligible customers to access Samsung, Tecno, Nokia and Infinix devices while paying over a four month period. Models currently available under the plan include Samsung A05, Samsung A06, Samsung A07, Samsung A16, Tecno Pop10, Nokia C01 and Infinix Space 10. These devices can be obtained at the Orange Headquarters at Hill Station, Orange Office Branch at Rawdon Street, and it Wellington Shop, with nationwide availability expected next year.
To be eligible for the offer, customers must possess a valid National Identification Card and must be an Orange Money Subscriber. Customers are required to make a 38% initial payment which includes the first month’s repayment, granting immediate access to the device. The remaining balance is paid over the next three months through Orange Money. Customers receive two gigabytes of data for each successful monthly repayment. Mobihive’s remote locking technology is applied if a customer defaults, ensuring sustainability of the financing model. Once the loan is fully settled, ownership of the device is transferred to the customer.
Speaking at the launch, George Otis Campbell, who oversees Strategy, Innovation, Digital Content and Devices at Orange Sierra Leone, said the initiative was designed to help customers upgrade to quality smartphones without the burden of a high upfront cost. He explained that Mobihive would serve as the financial partner, providing the capital and technology required for the credit scheme.
Campbell highlighted that the product would be delivered through Orange’s distribution network, which he said positions the company to extend device financing across the country. He noted that onboarding requires only a valid national ID, and there is no requirement for a minimum duration on the Orange network. He reaffirmed that the initiative was informed by growing demand for affordable smartphone access, adding that Mobihive plays a central role in the financing while Orange drives distribution.
Mamadou Bousso, Chief Marketing Officer and Director for Strategy, Transformation and Marketing at Orange Sierra Leone, said the company is responding to customer needs with a practical solution that enhances digital access. He emphasized that mobile phones are essential tools for communication, business, education and access to information, making affordability a key priority for Orange.
The Orange Chief Marketing Officer described the Tross Phone scheme as the best value device financing offer in the country. He said the initiative reflects Orange’s mission to simplify lives and remain committed to its digital promise. He expressed appreciation to the company’s leadership, Mobihive’s executives and the Orange technical and commercial teams for ensuring the successful rollout of the scheme.
Mobihive Country Director Yuvraj Jaiswal said the partnership represents an important milestone for the company in Sierra Leone. He acknowledged the support of Orange management and expressed gratitude to George Otis Campbell for his role in shaping the collaboration. Jaiswal noted that Mobihive, a UK based technology firm specializing in fintech, data, artificial intelligence and bespoke IT products, has extensive experience in telecom and financial technology solutions.
He said Mobihive’s strength lies in integrating telecom, banking, micro financing and insurance platforms to develop solutions that positively impact users. He announced that the joint venture will provide a variety of smartphones from brands such as Samsung, Tecno, Nokia and Infinix, available through flexible installment plans.
