In a gesture of unity and compassion, Leonoil, a leading Oil Marketing Company, yesterday Wednesday 3rd April, 2024 embarked on a benevolent mission to donate essential food items to communities residing in its operational areas in Kissy, east of Freetown.

peaking at the donation ceremony, Leonoil Head of Human Resources and Administration, Madam Miniratu Fofanah, said the donation of essential food items to the Masjids was part of their CSR during every Ramadan.

She disclosed that the Oil Marketing Company donated a total of 150 bags of rice and 60 bags of sugar that were distributed to the respective Masjids to support the needy Muslims.

According to Madam Fofanah, apart from the annual Ramadan donations, the company always responds to the immediate needs of people in communities in their operational areas, such as the provision of accessible borehole water, award of scholarships, funding of self-help projects initiated by the community people themselves, among others.

She averred that they also expect a reciprocal response from the community people through the provision of security and protection of the company’s properties, as well as to continue offering prayers to the Oil Marketing Company.

The Leonoil Managing Director, Ibrahim Cole, said they believe many people coming to the Masjids cannot afford for themselves during the Holy Month of Ramadan and therefore appealed to the Imams to provide support to them with such donations. The Managing Director said the donation of the essential food items to the Masjids is an annual humanitarian gesture of Leonoil Company to support needy Muslims in communities.

He averred that the company has demonstrated its commitment to uplifting communities, promoting harmony, compassion and solidarity as the heart of its corporate ethos.

The Chief Imam of Arakah Masjid in the Quarry Community, Sheikh Abdulrahman Noah Sesay, and the respective Chief Imams of Masjid Arafah and Thakuwa Allah, Rahim and Abubakarr Siddique, delightfully expressed gratitude and appreciation to Leonoil for receiving such essential food items as donation during this difficult time. They reiterated that this year’s donation was nothing strange because Leonoil had been supporting their Masjids during the last ten days of every Holy Month of Ramadan.

The Chief Imams offered prayers for the company and promised to continue remembering them in the last ten days of Ramadan with fervent prayers for the growth of the company.
