The Honourable Chief Minister of the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) Government, Jacob Jusu Saffa, has urged Sierra Leoneans to vote overwhelmingly for His Excellency President Brig. (Rtd) Dr. Julius Maada Bio come Saturday 24th June, 2023 presidential poll.

Addressing the Media and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) on the SLPP People’s Manifesto 2023 at the newly built Brookfields Hotel in Freetown yesterday Tuesday 30th May 2023, the Chief Minister, Jacob Jusu Saffa, who is also Chairman of the SLPP Manifesto Committee, averred that the New Direction Government is consolidating all their gains and also accelerating more transformations and achievements.

In his PowerPoint presentation, the Honourable Chief Minister thoroughly took media practitioners and representatives of CSOs through the SLPP People’s Manifesto 2023 and also summarized the ‘Big Five Game Changers’ for building an inclusive and prosperous Sierra Leone.

The no-nonsense politician and economist furthered that President Julius Maada Bio’s New Direction Government has made more massive improvements in all sectors of Government, including Energy, Education, Health, Sports, Roads Infrastructure and many others in his first term of office than what his predecessors did in two terms.

The Chief Minister emphasized that the achievements of the New Direction Government in five years are there for everyone to see, adding that because of those gains they have made, President Bio will surely win the presidential election with no runoff come Saturday 24th June.

“Vote for President Bio for continuity, but if you fail to vote him, our one million children will drop from school because no one will be willing to pay for them,” the Honourable Chief Minister averred.

He enthused that there are only two options in the world: you either go to heaven or you go to hell. “So if you want to go to heaven, vote for SLPP,” Jacob J. Saffa jokingly said.

The Honourable Chief Minister also commented on the statement of the main opposition All People’s Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Samura Mathew Wilson Kamara, during the launch of the APC Manifesto 2023 in Freetown on Monday that he would bring the price of women down if elected as President. The exuberant APC supporters had asked him whether or not he would control price if he became the next President of Sierra Leone..

According to Jacob J. Saffa, the New Direction Government enacted the Gender Equality and Women Empowerment Act because they believed in gender balance and promoting women in all facets of society, noting that the 30% quota for women in holding positions in Government signifies the importance they as a Government and party have placed on gender balance.

The shrewd planner therefore appealed to all Sierra Leonean women to join the SLPP which he said has much respect and better place for gender balance in governance than other political parties, noting that the posibility exists for the 30% quota for women to increase during the second term of His Excellency President Bio.
