For his unwavering commitment towards strengthening the Community Parliament by providing the necessary support to women and youth by ensuring they also have critical role to play in integrating their voices to governance issues in the West African Sub-region, the ECOWAS Youth Parliament has decorated the Speaker of ECOWAS Parliament, Rt. Honourable Dr. Sidie Mohamed Tunis, with an award of gratitude for making the Youth Parliament visible and valuable.
The presentation of the award was done last Friday 9th February, 2024 at the opening ceremony of the ECOFEPA Regional Summit at the Freetown International Conference Center.
During the presentation of the award, the Chairman of the West African Youth Parliament, Emmanuel Chea, commended Speaker Tunis for his leadership efforts towards promoting young people in the Sub-region. He further described him as a Goodwill Ambassador and prayed that his successor emulates his leadership tenets.
Under Speaker Tunis's guidance, the ECOWAS Parliament has played a pivotal role in advancing regional integration, peace and prosperity across West Africa. His visionary leadership has inspired countless young leaders to actively engage in shaping the future of the ECOWAS Community.
As Speaker Tunis concludes his tenure as the ECOWAS Speaker, his legacy is celebrated not only for his incredible accomplishments but also for the inclusive and impactful leadership that has left an indelible mark on the Parliament and the broader ECOWAS Community.
